With easy access to Research Triangle Park via I-40, Johnston County continues to experience high population growth with a steady increase in school enrollment. And Johnston County Schools are ready to meet the challenge.

The district educates more than 27,000 students and is comprised of 35 schools, including 19 elementary schools, 10 middle schools and six high schools.

Johnston County Schools structures its personalized curricula, programs and staff to encourage a desire for learning that will last a lifetime. In the elementary schools, children learn by hands-on observation, a literature-based reading program and a process-oriented writing program. The middle and high schools make use of core academic teacher teams, teacher-based guidance programs and exploratory curriculum courses. Additionally, every school building provides state-of-the-art facilities for students, largely supported by four bond referenda, of which the most recent was passed for $85 million in May 2005.
