Granville County Public Schools
There doesn’t seem to be much to argue with over Granville County Schools’ priorities: high student performance and career development, creating a caring environment, quality teachers, and strong family and community involvement. And while school enrollment steadily increases, this district has some truly innovative plans.
?Granville County gives residents a small-town feel without being too far from a big city …the perfect environment for raising a family and giving children the chance to build their own futures. The school district is comprised of thirteen schools, serving over 9,000 students in 8 elementary schools, one intermediate school, three middle schools, and two high schools. But Granville County has big plans for the future, including construction of a new high school set to open in 2007 and major renovations for all school campuses. The most exciting part of this district is what lies ahead. It is one of seven districts across the state awarded a grant through New Schools Project to develop a series of small focused and academically rigorous high schools. Current high schools, J.F. Webb and South Granville will be converted into six smaller autonomous, thematically focused schools. The process has already begun with both the J.F. Webb and South Granville Schools of Health and Sciences up and
running.
